Membership Requirements
Are You Eligible?
Applicants must meet both the honorable-service requirement and the qualifying-service requirement.
Honorable Service
You must have served in the Armed Forces of the United States and meet one of the following:
- You are currently serving in the Armed Forces of the United States.
- You previously served and received an Honorable discharge or a General discharge under honorable conditions.
Qualifying Service
You must also have qualifying service in a war, campaign, or expedition on foreign soil or in hostile waters. Eligibility may be established by at least one of the following:
- An authorized campaign medal, qualifying service medal, or qualifying badge
- Receipt of Hostile Fire Pay or Imminent Danger Pay, verified by an official military pay record
- Service in Korea for at least 30 consecutive or 60 nonconsecutive days
Simple Process
How to Join
Becoming a member begins with three practical steps.
Confirm Eligibility
Review the two eligibility requirements and locate your DD Form 214, current military identification, pay records, or other documentation showing honorable and qualifying service.
Complete an Application
Apply through the official VFW online application or contact VFW Post 7824 for help completing an application and submitting required documentation securely.
Join Our Post Community
After eligibility is verified and membership is processed, attend meetings, volunteer, participate in Post programs, and choose the level of involvement that works for you.
